BOCA RATON, FL – A new partnership will seek to market Internet-based personal health records to health insurers for their customers.
Medefile International, based in Boca Raton, Fla., will market its iPHR system as a value-added service to clients of MedSave USA, a Long Island, N.Y.-based provider of healthcare cost containment and medical record retrieval services. MedSave’s client base includes insurance companies, self-insured employers, third-party administrators, healthcare providers and government payer organizations.
The idea behind the agreement is that insurers will push PHRs to their clients as a means of improving healthcare management and reducing unnecessary clinical costs.
“For over two decades, insurers have relied on our company for valuable cost-containment and outsourced medical record retrieval services which allows them to effectively reduce loss adjusting expenses, improve quality control and resolve medical claims expediently,” said Gonen Antebi, MedSave’s CEO. “Together with MedeFile, we believe we are able to demonstrate to our clients how equipping individuals with a web-based personal health record will help promote greater patient engagement, improve clinical outcomes and ultimately save them time and money, and potentially even lives.”
Antebi said the first client to take advantage of the partnership is a provider of short-term accident and sickness coverage for people travelling abroad.
“Our client recognizes by having critical health information and actual medical records globally accessible online, including through a mobile phone or portable USB drive, it can positively impact the quality of care a traveler may receive when they are far from home and experience a medical emergency,” he said. “This presents a win-win for both the insurer and the insured.”
“Words can’t express how pleased we are to be forming this key alliance with MedSave USA,” added Kevin Hauser, chairman, president and CEO of MedeFile, in a press release. “MedSave USA’s global reputation for excellence in delivering adaptive solutions to many of the globe’s largest health insurers is sure to greatly benefit MedeFile in our mission to empower millions of patients worldwide with their health information and vital documents where and when they need them.”
