Mountain States Health Alliance has signed an agreement to purchase Russell County Medical Center (RCMC), a 78-bed acute care hospital located in Lebanon, Va. The hospital is currently affiliated with Community Health Systems of Franklin, Tenn. The acquisition is expected to be complete early in the first quarter of 2008.
"We are exited about Russell County becoming the fourth Virginia member of MSHA," Dennis Vonderfecht, president and chief executive officer of Mountain States Health alliance. "Under the banner of Community Health Systems, RCMC has enjoyed a successful history of providing quality care to the community. As mountain States continues to grow its southwest Virginia network of hospitals, we know RCMC will be a valuable addition."
All employees will be retained in the transaction, along with current pay rates, the company said. Seniority will be honored and comparable benefits are to be provided.
MSHA is currently made up of over a dozen hospitals and practices located in Tennessee and Virginia.
