The Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA) launched a new web portal last week aimed at helping small medical device suppliers gain information about the healthcare group purchasing organization (GPO) contract process and aiding them with bringing their products to the marketplace.
The HSCA Small Supplier Portal will serve as a gateway to GPOs and information on their contracting processes.
“GPOs are committed to delivering the best, most innovative products at the best value to American hospitals, and the Small Supplier Portal is just one more way that GPOs are proactively finding, evaluating and delivering innovative technologies to improve patient care,” said HSCA President Curtis Rooney.
“It’s meant to be a place where small and diverse companies can hook up with our member GPOs,” said Rooney. “It provides an opportunity for companies to make sure the GPOs know who they are.”
The portal creates a global marketplace where companies from the U.S., Europe, Asia, India and other parts of the world can gain access to large GPOs such as Amerinet, GNYHA Services, Innovatix, MedAssets, Novation and Premier.
More competition tends to drive up quality and drive down prices, said Rooney.
“The more people in a particular business space the more competition there is,” he said. “We’re excited about the opportunity and are looking forward to having more of our members join the portal.”
