Stockell, ZirMed team up to enhance RCM solution for hospitals

By Eric Wicklund

Two healthcare IT vendors are joining forces to help providers combine their billing and claims management services on one platform.

The partnership between St. Louis-based Stockell Healthcare Systems and Louisville, Ky.-based ZirMed has allowed for the integration of Stockell's InsightCS Revenue Cycle Information System with ZirMed's Claims Management software solution. The combined platform is designed to allow providers to route failed claims edits and projections back through the InsightCS system's patient billing solution, so the corrections can be made to that claim and any subsequent claims submissions.

The platform will also give Stockell clients access to a full EDI solution suite, which addresses eligibility, electronic remittance, virtual credit/debit care processing, patient invoice e-delivery and lockbox services and offers an online patient portal for billing inquiries, payments and management of automated payment plans.

"This approach is truly groundbreaking when compared to other offerings in the healthcare marketplace today," said Rick Stockell, president of Stockell Healthcare Systems, in a Sept. 7 press release. "We fully anticipate seeing a significant increase in productivity and a positive impact on what is currently being spent by the hospitals in regard to claims submission fees."

Company officials say the new platform is being used at Emerus Emergency Hospitals, a five-hospital chain based in The Woodlands, Texas and serving Dallas and Houston.

Founded in 1984, Stockell has seen increased interest in its InsightCS RCIS solution, with go-lives this year at ProMedica St, Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio (the tenth hospital in the ProMedica system to adopt the solution) and Cooper Green Mercy Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.

ZirMed, founded in 1999, offers business, reimbursement and payment solutions to more than 100,000 providers at 20,000 locations. The company has enhanced its RCM offerings this year through partnerships with Altex Business Solutions and e-MDs.
