Eric Evans has been named the new chief executive officer of East Houston Regional Medical Center, replacing Alice Adams, who retired in December. The announcement was made by the hospital's parent company, HCA Gulf Coast Division.

Evans was previously senior vice president of strategic planning for the HCA Gulf Coast Division, where he focused on developing and implementing the division's overall strategy.

He began his career at HCA in 1996, and also served as chief operating officer of The Woman's Hospital of Texas. Prior to joining The Woman's Hospital of Texas, he was the chief operating officer of Lakeview Regional Medical Center in New Orleans.

Evans holds a master's degree in health services administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor of science in business administration from The University of Texas at Dallas. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a board member of the American Leadership Forum.
