San Diego-based Premier, Inc. has signed contracts with six healthcare providers who will use the company's SpendAdvisor technology to reduce supply-chain expenses. They are Adventist HealthCare of Rockville, Md., Baystate Health in Springfield, Mass., the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, S.C., the Hendrick Health System of Abilene, Texas, the Saint Francis Health System of Tulsa and Broken Arrow, Okla., and the University Medical Center Health System in Lubbock, Texas.

Avnet Technology Solutions of Tempe, Ariz., a value-added distributor of enterprise computing products, software and services, has reported that its HealthPlan practice has helped participating value-added resellers increase sales by 40 percent during the last year in the healthcare technology market.

The Convergys Corporation, a Cincinnati-based provider of customer care, human resources and billing services, and Avaya, a provider of business communications applications, systems and services, have announced a partnership to jointly deliver "Customer Care Diagnostic" services designed to help beusiness evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of their customer interactions.

Kolb + Co. Medical Billing, LLC and Medical Billing Professionals, Inc., both of Milwaukee, have decided to merge. The combined company will be known as Kolb + Co. Medical Billing LLC, an affiliate of Kolb + Co. SC.

New York-based pMDsoft, Inc., which offers mobile charge capture software for physicians, has completed a series of error-checking measures designed to help its customers comply with the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative issued on July 1 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The Keystone Peer Review Organization, Inc., a Harrisburg, Pa.-based medical management firm, has been awarded the TennCare medical appeals services contract, which runs from Sept. 15, 2007 to Sept. 14, 2010. KePRO will be responsible for rendering professional opinions as to whether recipient appeals satisfy applicable clinical and legal requirements of medical necessity, as defined by the Bureau of TennCare.

Passport Health Communications, Inc. of Franklin, Tenn. has teamed with the Geisinger Health System to launch Passport IntelliSource, which integrates with Geisinger's EPIC system to create a Health Level 7-based system for insurance eligibility and address verification.
