WebMD offers online tools to U.S. Bank's HSA users

By Healthcare Finance Staff

WebMD, a provider of online health information services, has teamed with U.S. Bank Healthcare Payment Solutions to offer the bank's Health Savings Account customers enhanced online health tools.

Craig Froude, executive vice president at WebMD, said his company was excited to work with U.S. Bank, because the partnership would provide HSA participants with comprehensive health information resources that enable greater healthcare transparency.

"U.S. Bank recognizes that health and financial decisions are closely linked and require an integrated view of the individual's benefit, provider and treatment options," Froude said.

Ralph Bernstein, senior vice president of U.S. Bank Healthcare Payment Solutions, said the online enhancements provided by WebMD would complement the U.S. Bank HSA program by providing a WebMD application platform that can help consumers determine their optimal HSA contribution and tax savings.

He said U.S. Bank HSA customers will now have access to additional resources such as medication and hospital comparison tools, healthcare calculators, and information guides.

"Consumers trust WebMD's health information and its brand," said Bernstein. He claimed that more employers and their employees are enhancing their health plans with health savings accounts.

U.S. Bancorp, with $266 billion in assets, is the parent company of U.S. Bank, the 6th largest commercial bank in the United States.
