Several major health insurers are part of a coalition that is promoting texting as a way to keep expectant women, new moms and their babies healthy. The Health IT Summit for Government Leaders in Washington, D.C. launched the new program that sends free health information directly to expectant and new moms' mobile phones last month. Officials are touting the text4baby program as the first free mobile health service in the country, with participants paying nothing to send or receive messages.
