A sizable number of hospitals have posted job openings for CFOs on LinkedIn, Indeed and elsewhere, indicating the field is wide open for those wishing to take the reigns of a healthcare organization's finances. Here are 10 of them, spanning the country from California to Pennsylvania.
Wilbarger General Hospital, Vernon, TX
Wilbarger is looking for a CFO to "direct the financial, business office, accounting, purchasing, and medical records activities coincidental with defined hospital policies and objectives." The successful candidate will have a BS or BA in accounting with 2-3 years of "significant" experience as a hospital CFO.
River Valley Medical Center, 200 N 3rd St, Dardanelle, AR
This 35-bed critical access hospital is seeking a member of its Senior Leadership Team to participate in "financial and functional decision-making processes necessary for the success and sustainability of the hospital's mission, vision, and values." This position reports directly to the CEO and will manage department heads, as well as develop policies and procedures.
Mountain Lakes Medical Center, 196 Ridgecrest Circle, Clayton, GA
The successful CFO candidate, tasked with directing fiscal functions of the corporation, will have a bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of related hospital experience. The job is based in a clerical office setting.
Ardent Health Services, Albuquerque, NM
Ardent subsidiaries own and operate health systems throughout the United States; the division CFO in Albuquerque will ensure "operational profitability with sound financial performance." A minimum of five years' experience as a hospital CFO is preferred.
Prime Healthcare Services, 1100 Butte St, Redding, CA
This owner and operator of multiple acute-care hospitals across several states is looking for a CFO for the Shasta Regional Medical Center campus in Redding. Responsibilities include "planning, organizing and influencing department activities," as well as assuring the hospital's financial records are maintained using "accepted accounting standards." In all, Prime Healthcare operates 25 hospitals across the country.
Fishermen's Hospital, 3301 Overseas Hwy, Marathon, FL
This is a critical access hospital licensed for 25 acute care beds, in the market for a CFO who can administer the "general accounting, patient business services ... financial and statistical reporting functions of the hospital." The winning applicant will have a BS or BA in accounting, as well as three to five years' experience managing finances as a CFO or assistant CFO at a larger hospital. Strong communication and strategic skills are a must.
Acadia Healthcare, Las Vegas, NV
Acadia operates two facilities, and this CFO gig would oversee both. The eventual hiree will complete monthly financial statements, reconcile balance sheet accounts and direct operations of the revenue cycle. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in accounting -- or a business-related field with an accounting major -- as well as three years of successful hospital CFO experience. A master's degree doesn't hurt, either.
Galesburg Cottage Hospital, 695 N Kellogg St, Galesburg, IL
This 173-bed facility wants a CFO who is responsible for "accounting, budgetary, audits, tax and other financial planning activities within the hospital organization." A bachelor's in accounting or finance is a must; a master's is a bonus. Five years of financial/accounting management experience is also required.
Bingham Memorial Hospital, 98 Poplar Street, Blackfoot, ID
A bachelor's gets you in the door, but certified public accountants are given preference -- especially those with 10 years of hospital CFO experience, the minimum necessary to be considered for this job. The successful applicant will "coordinate and control the facility's cash and investment management activities," and report directly to the CFO.
United Surgical Partners International, Wyomissing, PA
The eventual CFO at United Surgical Partners is also the ethics and compliance officer, supervising accounting, the business office, information services, health information management, materials management, and human resources. Bachelor's required; MBA preferred.
