
10 hospital outreach programs have been recognized for their unique approaches to helping underserved communities around the country with national Hospital Charitable Services awards from Jackson Healthcare. The winning programs got equal shares of $100,000 of unrestricted funds offered through the Hospital Charitable Services Awards, Jackson Healthcare said in a statement.
This year's honorees serve a wide range of communities, from small to large, in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana,Pennsylvania, Washington and Florida. They were selected from a list of 52 finalists, with each winner having demonstrated "excellence in community impact, innovation, collaboration, leading practices and replicability," the Jackson Healthcare said.

The winners include Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program at Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Florida, Island Hospital Foundation's Community Mental and Behavioral Health Initiative in Anacortes, Washington, the Medical Home Project in Allentown, Pennsylvania run by Lehigh Valley Hospital, and Volunteer Advocates for Seniors and Incapacitated Adults in Hammond, Indiana run by Franciscan St. Margaret Health.
Jackson Healthcare started the Hospital Charitable Services Awards in 2010 to spotlight high-impact community health programs and use them as examples for other communities to model programs after. So far, sixty programs have been recognized for achievement in positively affecting local communities.

Several other programs were recognized as Programs of Promise, and received $2500 in unrestricted funds to help fuel their operations.
