The Foundation Radiology Group is one step closer to its goal of building a nationwide network of radiology physician groups after acquiring Roanoke, Va.-based Oryx Medical Services, company officials reported yesterday.

The Foundation Radiology Group or FRG is a full-service radiology provider of Pittsburgh, which uses board-certified radiologists to interpret diagnostic images for hospitals 24 hours a day. Oryx Medical Services, a provider of radiology practice management solutions for health care institutions on the east coast, is part of FRG's larger plan to build a nationwide network of radiology physician groups in order to provide hospitals, imaging centers and other clients with 24/7/365 diagnostic imaging services.

The acquisition will provide the addition of Dr. Gerald Johnson, who will join the company as sr. vice president of sales and marketing. "We are very pleased to add the capabilities of Oryx Medical Services to our organization, and to have Dr. Johnson join us... His contacts, expertise and knowledge of our industry will significantly enhance our capabilities," said Dr. Brandon W. Chan, Foundation Radiology Group's chairman and CEO.

"With FRG's resources and industry-leading technology, I am confident that we will enhance the service levels and quality of the patient care that we deliver to our clients," said Johnson in regards to the company's merged resources.

FRG also announced that it has appointed Brandon Smith, formerly with TeraRecon, Inc. to the position of vice president of program management.

"Brandon is the perfect complement to Dr. Johnson. He brings a wealth of experience to our management team and will be responsible for overseeing client implementation and support," explained Timothy Pisula, FRG's chief operating officer.

Pisula added, "With these key additions to our management team, our sales, implementation and client support methodology is now positioned to significantly enhance revenue growth, client and patient satisfaction."
