The new Allina Health and Aetna joint venture announced in January will be headed by former Molina executive Tom Lindquist, according to Aetna.
"After a comprehensive search process, we believe we have found the best individual to assume leadership of Allina Health | Aetna," said Dan Finke, senior vice president of Clinical Services and Joint Venture Markets for Aetna, "Tom has the right tool set and experience in the health insurance industry to guide the company to success in the years to come."

As CEO, Lindquist's immediate priorities will be to launch an integrated digital portal experience, finalize product offerings and build a management team, Aetna said. Long-term, his focus will be on growing Allina|Aetna geographically and developing a differentiated member experience.
Allina Health|Aetna combines the health system's network of physicians and the insurer's data analytics.
The organization anticipates offering a number of fully insured and self-insured commercial products starting as early as April 1, with Medicare and other products to follow, pending regulatory approvals.
Lindquist is the former president of Molina's South Carolina plan, where he developed programs to improve health outcomes for people who qualified for government-sponsored programs.
Prior to joining Molina in 2013, Lindquist served as president of home health AccentCare in Texas. He has also held leadership positions with UnitedHealthcare in Minnesota, Texas and Louisiana, and with Ochsner Health Plan and Memorial Sisters of Charity.
