American Hospital Association now offering healthcare construction credentialing

By Richard Pizzi

The American Hospital Association’s Certification Center has launched the Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) credential for professionals in healthcare construction.

The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) has endorsed the new certification. The ASHE is an AHA personal membership group.

“The CHC represents the collective wisdom and shared vision of ASHE leaders and experts who have worked in healthcare construction for decades,” said Dale Woodin, executive director of the ASHE. “This new credential demonstrates that there is a defined body of knowledge that is representative of professional practice."

The CHC certification exam will be offered for the first time on March 17 in San Diego, in conjunction with the International Summit & Exhibition on Health Facility Planning, Design and Construction, hosted by ASHE and the American Institute of Architects.

Woodin said a computer-based version of the exam will be available by early summer through Applied Management Professionals, Inc., at participating H&R Block locations.
