Baltimore-area hospital builds $105M expansion

Howard County General Hospital in suburban Baltimore unveiled a $105 million, four-story patient wing last week.

A member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, the 209-bed Columbia, Md. hospital employs 1,700 people.

Howard County General's new pavilion occupies 111,000 square feet and contains 90 new inpatient rooms, larger laboratory and pharmacy facilities and a dedicated critical care floor.

The expansion includes an outpatient center providing cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, physical and occupational therapy and a diabetes management program.

Howard County General also made infrastructure upgrades to hospital equipment, built a larger lobby and constructed a new surgery area.
