Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital, a Baltimore-based facility for children with complex medical needs, has implemented a new software system for billing automation and cost control.
The time and attendance solution, from Boca Raton, Fla.-based PerfectTIME, is designed to streamline operations and automate several workforce management processes that include time and attendance tracking and scheduling for the hospital's employees.
“From the start, this was a strategic initiative focused on cost control and productivity improvement as opposed to simply replacing outdated timekeeping methods,” said Thomas Ellis, vice president of human resources at Mount Washington Pediatric. “We wanted a robust and flexible time and attendance solution that would enable us to manage costs while simultaneously delivering the quality of care for which we are known.”
Hospital officials hope to improve payroll and overtime management by trying to modernize the facility's time and labor data collection and distribution methods. To improve the center's payroll accuracy and labor cost control, the hospital will be deploying biometric terminals coupled with a new rules engine to help with reducing compliance risks as well as enforcing hospital policies.
The hospital also intends to implement an electronic employee scheduling system to help manage staff scheduling and shift patterns for the 600-employee, 102-bed medical facility.
“PerfectTIME with biometrics will give us real-time visibility of our workforce and eliminate numerous time-consuming administrative tasks,” said Ellis. “This, when combined with the scheduling module, will help us ensure that the right people are always in the right place at the right time.”
