Banking program to help docs manage their practices

By Molly Merrill

Members of United Physicians P.C., a physician organization in southeast Michigan, will soon have access to a banking program designed to help them better manage their practices.

The banking program is the result of a six-month collaboration between United Physicians and National City, now a part of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., a financial services organization based in Pittsburgh.

The program will deliver cash flow solutions for physician-owned practices, personal banking tools for practice employees and wealth accumulation and protection techniques for physicians.

"Our specialists focus exclusively on the business banking needs of physician practices. Our mission is to be on the cutting edge of providing expertise and specialized solutions that enable these practices to achieve their financial goals," said JoAnn Berryman, director of physician services for National City in southeast Michigan.

National City's healthcare specialists will offer services to the more than 2,000 direct member physicians of United Physicians, the practices they own and the more than 6,000 employees of those practices.

Through the program, National City will provide physicians with revenue cycle management tools and a broad range of integrated products and services, including a customer service telephone number for United Physicians, P.C. doctors and their employees, special assistance to ensure plan provider ACH transactions are seamlessly switched to new National City deposit accounts, co-branded credit and debit cards and a bank at work benefit program.

"As a physician organization, the well-being and future stability of our physicians and their practices is our first priority. We understand now, more than ever, the importance of having a banking partner that you can trust with your personal and business needs," said. Steven Grant, president and CEO of United Physicians.
