California hospital expands self-pay business office services

By Richard Pizzi

Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, Calif., has signed a deal for self-pay accounts receivable management services with Irvine, Calif.-based Cymetrix.

Cymetrix will provide revenue cycle management solutions to the 401-bed medical center, including predictive payment modeling, automated workflows and performance monitoring tools developed specifically for patient liability collections.

Torrance Memorial is looking to increase its payments from managed care organizations, said Helen Hanna, director of patient accounts at the nonprofit hospital.

She said the new relationship with Cymetrix would allow the revenue cycle team to "manage our patient liability collections while being completely transparent to our patients."

Cymetrix has worked with Torrance Memorial on revenue cycle issues since 2008.
