Cigna, Kaiser Permanente tie to top consumer engagement index

By Healthcare Finance Staff

Cigna and Kaiser Permanente of California tied as the top insurers during the third quarter in health rewards company EveryMove's ranking of customer engagement.

EveryMove positions on a quarterly basis the top 100 regional and national health insurance companies by analyzing over 50 data points, including mobile-friendly websites and mobile apps, self-service tools, incentive programs, and community involvement. The data accounts for the variety of company sizes, but EveryMove does not consider the cost or specific healthcare services covered by any plan.

The rankings have incorporated more data points, including app store rankings, customer satisfaction surveys, and changes and activities that insurers have made on their social, mobile and web platforms between July and September.

The index is "an easy way to see pockets of improvement from health plans," said Russell Benaroya, EveryMove co-founder and CEO, in a news release. He noted that there were more consumer-friendly website redesigns, increased social engagement, and the launch of new community programs.

The top 10 insurers are:
1. Cigna
2. Kaiser Permanente of California
3. Premera Blue Cross
4. Humana
5. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
6. Independence Blue Cross
7. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina
8. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois
9. CareFirst
10. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee
