Community Health Systems names Tim Hingtgen chief operating officer

Tim Hingtgen steps up from Operations EVP position after two years, appointment is effective in September, CHS says.

Community Health Systems has named Tim Hingtgen their new president and chief operating officer, the company announced Thursday.

The appointment is effective Sept. 1.

Hingtgen will step into the role currently held by David Miller, who will retire from CHS at the end of the year.

Miller will continue with the company serving as special advisor to the chairman of the board and chief executive officer until he completes 20 years of service to CHS.

Hingtgen first joined CHS in 2008 as vice president of operations. In Jan. 2014, he was promoted to president of Division IV operations, and in May 2016, he became executive vice president of operations.

"Tim is an extremely effective, results-driven healthcare executive and an experienced operator who has provided outstanding leadership for some of our most successful markets," said Wayne Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of CHS. "Tim is meticulous about setting operating standards and has a track record of executing strategies that support clinical excellence, business development and growth."

CHS is headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee and is one of the largest publicly traded hospital companies in the United States. Through its subsidiaries, CHS owns, leases or operates 159 affiliated hospitals in 22 states.
