Florida hospital system offers onsite health services to local employers

St. Vincent's HealthCare in Jacksonville, Fla., has announced it will help the city's major employers set up onsite health centers.

Executives at St. Vincent's said the hospital system will create a partnership with one of the nation's largest providers of onsite health centers, Reston, Va.-based Comprehensive Health Services (CHS), Inc., to provide a broad, integrated healthcare delivery model.

According to Moody Chisholm, CEO of St. Vincent's HealthCare, the new partnership is designed to provide health improvement programs to large and mid-sized employers in and around Jacksonville through a combination of onsite health centers and high-quality provider networks, outpatient diagnostic centers and hospital-based services.

The new model will offer an alternative for employers faced with escalating costs associated with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and other chronic conditions, Chisholm said.

The program will leverage the patient's existing primary care services and assist those without primary care physicians to find one in the community, she added.

"We believe that the onsite health center is increasingly becoming the patient-centered medical home for large and mid-size employers," said Stuart Clark, executive vice president at CHS.

"To truly address patient health trends, it takes a coordinated effort of community health resources, and we believe that an onsite health center can serve as a critical part of this solution," he said.
