The Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration has signed a five-year, $44 million deal with Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., to administer a Third Party Liability program for the state's Medicaid system.
As part of the new contract with the state of Florida, Dallas-based ACS will deploy its business process and Web-based technologies in pursuit of Third Party recovery sources such as commercial health insurance plans, Medicare, Casualty, Estate, Trust and Annuity plans.
State officials hope ACS will help deliver cost savings by assisting Florida's Medicaid program in identifying alternate insurance sources prior to Medicaid claims payment.
An ACS executive said such programs have been extremely successful in the commercial market and could provide significant savings opportunities for the Florida Medicaid program, as the state is facing major budget challenges.
The company is very active in state healthcare program administration, supporting more than 23 million program recipients and processing almost 550 million Medicaid healthcare claims annually, representing close to $50 billion in provider payments.
