
Birmingham, Alabama-based hospital operator HealthSouth Corp. said it has formed a joint venture with the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based St. John Health System to run the 40-bed Bernsen Rehabilitation Center.
In inpatient rehabilitation hospital is currently located on the Tulsa campus of the St. John Medical Center, but under terms of the deal the companies will build a new, freestanding center for the hospital. Construction on the 49,000-square-foot hospital is expected to kick off in the third quarter and wrap up by the fourth quarter of 2016.

The facility treats patients who have experienced stroke, trauma, brain injury, complex orthopedic conditions as well as other major illnesses or injuries.
Monetary terms of the joint venture were not disclosed.
St. John, a nonprofit Catholic health system, runs hospitals in Tulsa, Owasso, Broken Arrow, Sapulpa and Bartlesville as well as several clinics and nursing centers.
HealthSouth runs inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, home health agencies and hospice agencies across 33 states.
