IPC The Hospitalist Company has increased its national footprint, acquiring two hospitalist practices in New Jersey and Nevada.
The North Hollywood, Calif.-based hospitalist physician group practice company acquired Post-Acute Medical Associates, PC, of Morristown, N.J., and Muhammad Syed, MD, PC, in Las Vegas.
Combined, the two hospitalist groups have an annualized volume of approximately 20,000 patient encounters. The groups will join existing IPC practices in both markets.
“The PAMA and Syed practices will greatly benefit from the administrative, financial and technology support IPC provides to our practices,” said R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC The Hospitalist Company. “Partnering is an increasingly attractive option for the local independent practice to deliver the improved care and coordination that hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, payers and the entire medical community demand from inpatient care today.”
IPC’s physicians and affiliated providers practice exclusively in hospitals or other inpatient facilities, including acute, sub-acute and long-term care settings. The firm employs approximately 1,000 hospitalists in more than 500 facilities.
