Affiliates of the American Health Information Management Association as well as backers across social media who are pushing for the change to ICD-10 coding ,rallied on Twitter this afternoon, publishing a flurry of messages directed at elected officials asking them to go forward with the Oct. 1 roll-out of the updated medical coding vocabulary.
Activity is heating up around the topic since it was almost a year ago when the U.S. Congress delayed implementation another year. Representatives are once again expected to take up the issue this month, especially since Medicare's sustainable growth rate is set to start on April 1. When the SGR almost kicked in last year, Congress pushed it back and lumped the ICD-10 delay into the measure.
We'll keep tabs on the social media activity below. Also, if you'd like to leave a comment about where you stand on ICD-10, please don't hesitate to jump in.
