BroMenn Regional Medical Center, a 221-bed not-for-profit hospital in Normal, Ill., has announced a new hospital medicine agreement with Cogent Healthcare.
“The Cogent partnership is an investment toward our commitment to superior patient care and service,” said Roger Hunt, president and CEO of the BroMenn Healthcare System. “Along with our merger with Advocate Health Care, the Cogent partnership is another strategic decision that aligns with BroMenn’s clinical, financial and operational goals.”
BroMenn Regional Medical Center is part of BroMenn Healthcare System, which serves an eight-county area in central Illinois. The medical center has provided hospitalist services since 2004.
In January 2010, the system will merge with Chicago-based Advocate Health Care, the largest healthcare system in Illinois.
“Cogent is very pleased to be selected by BroMenn to deliver our proven system of care to serve its communities,” said Gene Fleming, president and CEO of Cogent Healthcare. “It is our goal that this strategic partnership will help facilitate BroMenn’s commitment to continued excellence in patient care.”
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Cogent works with hospitals to build and manage hospitalist programs.
“For more than 100 years, BroMenn has met the healthcare needs of its communities,” said Gary Hagens, the BroMenn System's chief operating officer and vice president of medical affairs. “A critical part of our decision was selecting a hospital medicine partner that would support our successes in delivering quality care and also partner with us to identify opportunities for service enhancement. Cogent has demonstrated expertise in working alongside large organizations like ours to provide and maintain superior inpatient care to a significant patient population.”
The BroMenn Healthcare System consists of BroMenn Regional Medical Center, the 25-bed critical access Eureka Community Hospital, the BroMenn Physicians Management Corporation and the BroMenn Provider Network, a physician hospital organization.
