Indiana hospital upgrades asset tracking capability

By Richard Pizzi

Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind., has deployed enterprise asset tracking to better manage its equipment resources, including maintenance, storage and deployment.

The 343-bed hospital in west-central Indiana is using asset management technology from Traverse City, Mich.-based Versus Technology, Inc. Versus specializes in the development of real-time location systems (RTLS) for patient tracking, bed management and asset tracking in hospitals.

RTLS allows hospitals to keep abreast of equipment utilization rates by monitoring equipment locations, service schedules and resource requirements throughout facilities.

Paul Timmerman, Versus' vice president, said Union Hospital has used RTLS to report the location of their spot vital machines, many of which were recently recalled.

Union is western Indiana's largest not-for-profit medical center.
