As part of a multi-year contract with San Ramon, Ca.-based Keane, Inc., The Johns Hopkins Hospital plans to implement a full admission, discharge and transfer solution and make upgrades to its back-end revenue cycle management.
The hospital's back-end billing software, which has been in place since 1991, will be replaced with Keane's browser-based EZ-Access Patcom product.
By upgrading their revenue cycle management capabilities, hospital officials hope to see an increase in revenue and cash flow and a reduction in accounts receivable days.
EZ-Access Patcom will also give Johns Hopkins officials additional insight into and functionality for patient billing, all designed to improve ROI for the hospital.
Keane's front-end ADT System will take a little more than one year to fully deploy. The browser-based system will streamline the hospital's patient registration system from the point of admission through the discharge or transfer of the patient.
The system will interface with more than 200 systems in The Johns Hopkins Hospital and will help in the collection and management of critical patient data to improve patient safety and quality of care, as well as billing and insurance information, to streamline billing processes on the back-end.
"The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a long-time client of Keane, and we're delighted that they have selected us to implement a full admission, discharge and transfer solution, which is one of the most visible technology components in a hospital," said Walt Kaczor, senior vice president at Keane's Healthcare Solutions Division. "We believe this project is a testament to the quality of our solutions and our ability to develop long-term client relationships."
