LAS VEGAS – McKesson officials have unveiled a new revenue management platform designed to help healthcare providers consolidate their old legacy and bolted-on systems.
Released during the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s ANI conference last month in Las Vegas, Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management combines new rules-based software and connectivity services into an open solution designed to streamline patient access to services, connect with payers, banking solutions and other business partners and determine financial responsibility before and after care.
During an interview at the show, McKesson Provider Technologies Group President Duncan James joined with Senior Vice President/General Manager Loren Buysman and Vice President of Marketing and Revenue Cycle Solutions Jeff Shelton to point out that this platform will help hospitals and other healthcare providers clean up years of outdated and inefficient revenue cycle solutions. They said Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management isn’t designed to replace any of the other McKesson products – some of which have been in use for 30 years -- but it will improve the process.
“Horizon Enterprise Revenue Management extends far beyond the latest hospital information systems, which have failed to deliver incremental workflow efficiencies and financial improvement,” said McKesson Technology Solutions President Pamela Pure in a press release. “This new solution will reinvent the entire financial process, integrating with the customer’s existing clinical system and helping the organization proactively manage the economic implications of delivering care.”
Company officials say the new platform is being implemented in nine healthcare settings, with studies estimating an average of $7.4 million in potential annual benefits per setting once the solution is fully deployed.
