MHPA taps MedAssurant to promote best practices for Medicaid plans

By Healthcare Finance Staff

MedAssurant, a provider of data-driven healthcare technology, has been enlisted by Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA) to provide advanced analytics to help establish priorities and inform best practices in healthcare delivery for Medicaid patients.

In an effort to increase quality and improve outcomes for the medically underserved, MedAssurant will apply its large healthcare datasets and analytical platform as MHPA conducts research on comparative effectiveness, clinical quality and efficacy.

MHPA recently launched its Center for Best Practices, an initiative to enable its members to identify best practices and improve care for the Medicaid populations that they serve. MedAssurant will leverage its research and analytics capabilities to help MHPA better understand the effectiveness of care delivered to Medicaid patients, the barriers that limit the quality of that care and the strategies most likely to help MHPA members overcome those barriers.

"Our collaboration with MedAssurant is part of MHPA's initiative to promote efficient and high-quality healthcare that is informed by robust clinical and quality data," said Thomas L. Johnson, MHPA's president and CEO. "MedAssurant's expertise in healthcare data analysis and their extensive datasets make them the ideal partner for providing the center with the tools to achieve MHPA's goal of ensuring access to better healthcare."

"The expansion of Medicaid through healthcare reform, as well as from the forces of the recent economic environment, is driving significant focus on this important group," said Cary Sennett, MD, chief medical officer of MedAssurant, adding that his firm "is delighted to have the opportunity to work with MHPA and the Center for Best Practices to bring data and insight to their efforts, and their member plans' efforts, to more effectively address the complex needs of this extremely important population."
