By Richard Pizzi

The Mississippi State and School Employees Health Insurance Management Board has announced a one-year extension of its pharmacy benefit management contract with Catalyst Rx.

The state of Mississippi and Catalyst Rx entered into a four-year agreement effective Jan. 1, 2006, that included an option to extend the contract for a fifth year, which the state elected to exercise.

The nextension is active through Dec. 31, 2010, and covers approximately 190,000 active and retired employees, as well as their eligible dependents.

Catalyst Rx, a subsidiary of Rockville, Md.-based Catalyst Health Solutions, is a pharmacy benefit management company that manages pharmacy benefit plans for self-insured employers, including state and local governments, third party administrators, managed care organizations and individuals.
