Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, New York is in the midst of a $9.1 million renovation that will increase its outpatient services and quadruple the size of its emergency department, according to a report in the Press Republican.
Construction is expected to last for 18 months, and is the first major upgrade to the hospital in 36 years.
The project will be paid for by a State Department of Health grant, and represents the first step in the hospital becoming a part of the University of Vermont Health Network.
The larger ER will have a four-bed observation area, and there will also be a new X-ray department, laboratory, pharmacy and physical therapy services housed in a new rehabilitation department.
In six months, the visiting specialists lounge will be completed, which will be used by physicians from the University of Vermont Health Network who travel to Ticonderoga to perform certain procedures. The new ER, meanwhile, is expected to be operational by April 2018. It will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week during construction.
