Promotions, hires and fires for the week ending May 9, 2014

Broward Health Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., has named Alex Fernandez as the hospital's new chief financial officer. He will be responsible for overseeing the hospital’s strategic financial operations, financial planning and cash flow monitoring.

White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital has named David Ho as its senior vice president and chief financial officer. He most recently served as CFO for hospital finance at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Paul Hopkins, chief financial officer at Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, Mo., was named the facility’s assistant director. In his new role, Hopkins will oversee facilities management, the VA police force, voluntary service and the hospital's green environment management system.

Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Mich., has appointed Svetlana Dembitskaya as its new chief operating officer. She has held both COO and CFO roles at other healthcare facilities, the most recent being COO of medicine at Mount Sinai Health System in New York.

Ed Johlman, chief financial officer at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, Wyo., is resigning his position as of June 27, 2014.
