James R. Downing, MD, will be the new CEO at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital effective July 15. Downing most recently has served as the deputy director, executive vice president and scientific director of the hospital. He succeeds William E. Evans, who is retiring from the position after 10 years and returning full time to his long-standing pharmacogenomics research program at St. Jude.
Jennifer Weldon has been named chief financial officer for Highlands Medical Center in Sparta, Tenn., effective July 1. Previously, she worked as controller at Capital Medical Center in Olympia, Wash. and as assistant and interim CFO at EASTAR Health System in Muskogee, Okla.
New Jersey’s Inspira Health Network has named Thomas Baldosaro as the organization’s new CFO. Inspira Health Network is a charitable nonprofit healthcare organization formed in November 2012 by the merger of South Jersey Healthcare and Underwood-Memorial Hospital. Baldosaro has been instrumental in the financial consolidation process.
Starr Regional Medical Center, a two-hospital system in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, has appointed Mark Nichols as its new chief executive officer, effective July 7. Nichols assumes role following the interim leadership of Richard Grogan, who has served the hospital and community since April 2014. Most recently, Nichols served as CEO of LewisGale Hospital Pulaski in Virginia, a 147-bed hospital associated with LewisGale Regional Health System, since 2010.
