Dallas-based Parkland Health and Hospital System has named healthcare technology executive John Dragovits its CFO and executive vice president. Dragovits, a vice president in patient accounting at Cerner Corp. of North Kansas City, Mo., succeeds John Gates. Before joining Cerner, he was chief operating officer and executive vice president at Children's Medical Center in Dallas from 1992 to 2003. SantaFe HealthCare has appointed Mike Gallagher president and chief executive officer, effective January 1. SantaFe HealthCare is the $900 million Gainesville, Fla.-based holding company of AvMed Health Plans, Haven Hospice of North Central Florida and two retirement communities. Gallagher currently serves as president of SantaFe's senior living and hospice affiliates, and AvMed's executive vice president and CFO. He replaces Robert C. Hudson, who's retiring. Paul H. Palmer, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Sierra Health Services Inc. of Las Vegas, will retire in May 2007. He will be succeeded by Marc R. Briggs, the company's vice president of finance and chief accounting officer. John Gates, senior vice president and CFO at Parkland Hospital and Health System in Dallas, will join the management team at Cooper in October as senior executive vice president and CFO. From 1987 to 1990, he was CFO at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. He also led the financial divisions at Battle Creek (Mich.) Health System, Forum Health in Youngstown, Ohio and Covenant Health Systems in Lubbock, Texas. Navicure has named John Balch as its CFO. Balch joined Navicure in mid-July and has 25 years experience in financial management, specifically in the professional and financial industries. He spent six years as vice president of finance for the healthcare analytics division of Wolters Kluwer Health Inc. and 10 years as a partner with McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, in Phoenix. NaviMedix Inc. of Cambridge, Mass. has appointed Brian S. Gould, MD, senior vice president of care management services. A career expert in clinical care, health insurance, healthcare technology and international healthcare operations, he will lead NaviMedix's care management marketing and operations, oversee sales and business development initiatives and assess and recommend technology and infrastructure requirements.
