Doylestown Hospital, a 210-bed acute care facility near Philadelphia, has signed a contract with clinical documentation vendor MedQuist to use the company’s Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) consulting services and software.
The hospital will also use the RevTrack workflow management and processing solution from RevenueMed – enabling the facility to track and identify RAC efforts and tasks.
The mission of Medicare's RAC program is to reduce improper Medicare payments by reviewing the billing claims of hospitals and other healthcare organizations.
MedQuist will supply a RAC coordinator and the tools to help hospital officials prepare for, navigate and manage the RAC audit process. The Mount Laurel, N.J.-based company will also assist in assessing the hospital's risk related to the RAC program when needed.
Bill DiGiorgio, the hospital's director of payer management, said Doylestown Hospital is a long-term MedQuist client, having employed the company for coding and transcription services and speech recognition software.
He said Doylestown "looks forward to working with MedQuist's RAC coordinator" and to enhancing the hospital's clinical documentation and revenue programs.
Doylestown Hospital is owned by the local women's civic organization Village Improvement Association. The hospital serves Bucks and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania and Hunterdon and Mercer counties in neighboring New Jersey.
