Revenue cycle management and software services provider PracticeMax announced Monday it has acquired American Billing Services (ABS) of Portland, Ore., expanding its operations and geographical footprint in the northwestern United States. A price was not disclosed.
Scottsdale, Ariz.-based PracticeMax serves over 4,900 providers in 32 states, processing more than $700 million in charges annually for more than 25 specialties. ABS provides billing and practice management services to physician practices and hospitals in the northwestern United States.
“At PracticeMax, we’ve never been interested in growth simply for growth’s sake,” said Bill Carns, PracticeMax CEO. “The American Billing Services acquisition, as with all of our recent business moves, was made to expand our ability to serve healthcare providers while assembling the top talent in the industry. It is gratifying that such longstanding leaders like Medinomics, MedaPhase and now American Billing Services, chose to become part of the PracticeMax family.”
Carns described the acquisition as a significant benefit for the company’s combined customer base.
“At PracticeMax, we recognize that providers need access to experienced, trusted advisors who can offer a broad selection of services and technology," said Carns. "A ‘one size fits all’ approach to EHR and PM system selection simply won’t work for most healthcare practices. Since the company’s inception, we have been committed to recommending customized solutions for our customers. The synergy created by this acquisition enhances our ability to offer these solutions to an even broader base of providers.”
“Given the complexity of today’s healthcare industry – including the emphasis on EHR and meaningful use, it is more difficult than ever for small companies to assemble all of the resources providers need to remain competitive,” said Sara Nofziger, president and founder of ABS. “So it was a priority for me to join an organization that could offer a variety of technology solutions for my clients. Through PracticeMax, my current and future clients will have access to all of the technology and services they need to thrive.”
