Two financial seminars are on tap for attendees of the Radiological Society of North America’s 95th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting.
The event, touted as the world’s largest annual radiology meeting, will take place Nov. 29-Dec. 4 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Officials forecast attendance at more than 50,000.
This year’s conference features sessions on the business of quality and safety in addition to seminars on effective real estate strategies and asset protection and retirement planning.
“Quality Improvement: The Business of Quality and Safety: Financial Aspects and Reimbursement” is set for Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 1:30-3 p.m. The panel, moderated by G. Scott Gazelle, MD, will address linking strategy to vision, pay-for-performance (is it worth the effort?) and resources and strategies for funding a radiology quality and safety program.
The real estate seminar, presented by J. Michael Moody, is set for Saturday, Nov. 28, from 1-5 p.m.
“No other investment offers the combined advantages of cash flow, appreciation and tax shelter,” said Moody.
Topics of the session include:
- Strategies for maximizing investment returns and property value;
- Working with the seller: lender of the future?
- Why real estate investors pay fewer taxes;
- Home mortgages: to prepay or not to prepay;
- Advantages of owning your own office building;
- Vacation homes: great time to buy?
REITs: passive ownership of shopping centers and office space.
Barry Rubenstein, a lawyer, will lead the seminar “Asset Protection and Retirement Planning in the New (Stimulus?) Era” on Monday, Nov. 30, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Included in this seminar, Rubenstein said, are comprehensive illustrations and essential information to help physicians decide how to use asset protection techniques and effectively implement current retirement planning tools.
Rubinstein will cover:
- Understanding the new rules for IRA and retirement plan withdrawals
- How the proposed income tax rules affect retirement planning and asset protection
- The new federal estate tax rules and how they affect retirement planning
- Life insurance as the "silver bullet"
- IRA distribution strategies, including Roth IRA conversions
- The "good news" about the bad economic news
The two financial seminars require advance registration and additional fees.
