InstaMed receives investment from U.S. Bank

Philadelphia-based InstaMed has received an equity investment from the Minneapolis-based U.S. Bank as part of its third round of funding. The companies have been in a partnership for a year and have processed millions of dollars through the InstaMed platform for hospitals, healthcare providers, billing services, vendors and payers. The InstaMed platform has the capability to process both real-time and batch modes; its capabilities include merchant acquiring, provider and patient portals, gateway services, bankcard and electronic check processing, patient financing and comprehensive healthcare clearinghouse functions.

Leukemia/Lymphoma Society selects Appian Enterprise

Appian, a Vienna, Va.-based provider of Business Process Management suites (BMPs), has announced that The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, has selected Appian Enterprise to automate and structure the application process for its Co-Pay Assistance Program. The program offers assistance to patients toward private health insurance premiums, private insurance co-pay obligations and Medicare Part B, Medicare Part D, Medicare Supplementary Health Insurance and Medicare Advantage premium or co-pay obligations.

Lawson software signs partnership with Ceridian

Lawson Software of St. Paul, Minn. has announced a new partnership with Ceridian, a provider of managed human resource outsourcing solutions, to provide a tax filing interface for customers using Lawson Payroll. Under terms of the agreement, Lawson will manage the interface between Lawson Payroll and Ceridian’s tax service, which is designed to help simplify the management of complex tax issues associated with an organization’s payroll operations.

Lifenexus picks Gemalto for new healthcare card

Gemalto, a provider of digital security solutions, has been selected by LifeNexus, Inc. as the exclusive supplier of technology and professional services for what is billed as North America’s first healthcare payment card. LifeNexus will issue the Personal Health Card directly to consumers, working with employers and other sponsoring organizations. The LifeNexus Personal Health Card will be equipped with Gemalto’s .NET technology to enable secure storage of health and financial information.
