SAN ANTONIO, TX – South Texas Total Eye Care, a physician-owned, independent physicians association (IPA) providing eye care for more than 13,000 members, has implemented Plexis Healthcare Systems’ business processing outsourcing (BPO) service.
“As a relatively small healthcare group looking to increase claims management efficiency and cost effectiveness, we were challenged with finding a solution provider that would meet our limited needs and budget,” said Albert Castillo of STTEC. “Of five vendors interviewed, only Plexis stepped up to the plate with an innovative proposal of flexible BPO solutions – a customized package including just the specific services we require made affordable and attainable.”
STTEC managed claims in-house for more than 13 years, but the contract with Plexis has allowed STTEC to transition from internal manual processing of claims to fully outsourced automated claims management supported by Plexis’ proprietary Plexis Claim Manager technology. STTEC’s outsourcing strategy is designed to increase productivity and reduce administrative costs through deployment of process claims loads.
Plexis Healthcare BPO, introduced in the summer of 2007, provides outsourced business processing and optimization services that are designed to reduce inefficiencies, control operating costs and free up internal resources to focus on strategic outcomes. The company also provides short- and long-term services, from configuring a database and turning it over to a client to taking over the processing of claims.
STTEC’s database is hosted at Plexis, while other clients hosts their own databases on-site and allow Plexis to access them remotely. Providers mail claims directly to Plexis. Both paper and electronic claims are used.
The service provided by Plexis allows organizations to avoid capital purchases, staffing increases and lengthy implementation associated with claims processing system installation. BPO customers typically can be fully transitioned and operational within 60 days.
