Vendor Notebook - ACS buys CompIQ Corp.

Affiliated Computer Sciences, Inc. of Dallas has announced an agreement to acquire the CompIQ Corp. of Irvine, Calif., a provider of workers' compensation claims review, re-pricing and software services, for $22 million.

Benefit Informatics, a Tulsa, Okla.-based provider of healthcare data warehousing services for third-party administrators and other payers serving the self-insured market, has announced that Diversified Group Brokerage and the Diversified Administration Corp., its third-party administrator company, has chosen the company's Benefit Analyzer and Connect Edition products to improve data analysis, reporting and communication services.

The McKesson Corp. of San Francisco has acquired HTP, Inc., a Columbus, Ohio-based provider of revenue cycle management technology.

BidShift, a San Diego-based provider of software-as-a-service staffing solutions, has changed its name to Concerro, Inc.

Wells Fargo Financial National Bank of Des Moines, Iowa, part of the consumer finance subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Company, has introduced a revolving credit card program to give consumers flexible payment options for certain healthcare and veterinary services.

Plano, Texas-based EDS will design and implement a new Medicaid management information system for the state of Georgia under a new seven-year, $391 million contract. The EDS Georgia interchange system will provide fiscal agent and enrollment broker services and establish electronic health records for Medicaid recipients.

ACM, a Minneapolis-based healthcare benefits management company, has forged an agreement with Emdeon Business Services. Under the agreement, ACM's MedRxPrecision technology solution will add a claims management tool for drug claims processed under the medical benefit that features automated re-pricing and editing using NDC-level data.

The Quotit Corp., an Irvine, Calif.-based Internet application service provider for the health insurance and employee benefits industry, has been acquired by The Word & Brown Companies of Orange, Calif., a provider of individual and group health benefits distribution and administration.

CBIZ, a Boston-based professional business services consulting firm and one of the largest accounting, valuation and medical practice management companies in the United States, has announced an agreement with Real Asset Management International, which develops software for optimizing fixed asset management, to enable CBIZ to enhance its services with RAMI's Asset4000 product.

Indianapolis-based WellPoint, Inc. has announced the launch of a mobile provider finder tool that will allow members of its affiliated health plans to search for local, in-network doctors and hospitals through any Web-enabled cell phone or hand-held device. The mobile provider finder is available now to affiliated health plan members in Connecticut, Maine and New Hampshire and will expand to other WellPoint markets throughout 2008. In addition, WellPoint has acquired DeCare Dental, one of the country's largest administrators of dental benefit plans.

The Eclipsys Corp. of Atlanta has signed an agreement to become a contracted supplier of Sunrise Enterprise clinical and financial solutions for Premier Purchasing Partners LP, one of the nation's largest healthcare group purchasing organizations with $31 billion in annual purchasing volume.

mPay Gateway, a Minneapolis-based provider of point-of-care patient payment services, has announced that Informed Solutions, which provides financial, technical and operations services and consulting for medical practices and has offices in Chicago and Atlanta, will be s software reseller for the company. Informed Solutions will initially focus its marketing and distribution efforts on physician practices in Illinois, Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts and California.
