Vendor Notebook: American CareSource Holdings increases clientele

American CareSource Holdings, Inc., based in Dallas, has added three clients to its portfolio: Caprock HealthPlans, Inc., a Lubbock, Texas-based third party administrator, GreenTree Administrators, Inc., a Beaumont, Texas-based regional third party administrator, and Community Claims Administration, an Orange, Calif.-based third party administrator.

Sage North America, based in Tampa, Fla., has released version 6.10 of the Sage Intergy electronic health record, which includes enhancements designed to meet key industry certifications like the CCHIT 2011 Ambulatory EHR certification guidelines and meaningful use certification. Sage has also released a Meaningful Use Edition of its Intergy product that expands on the core functionality in version 6.10 by providing physicians with additional tools for patient engagement and meaningful use reporting.

The TriZetto Group, based in Greenwood Village, Colo., has acquired all of the voting stock of Tela Sourcing, Inc., a Baltimore-based business process outsourcing services company with operations in India.

ZirMed, a Louisville, Ky.-based provider of revenue cycle management solutions, has added a self-sign up capability to its Patient Notebook electronic billing and patient medical account management solution. The new function is designed to allow patients to enroll themselves to receive and pay medical bills electronically for multiple healthcare providers in one location.

MedAssets, Inc., based in Atlanta, has announced that the Boston-based Cambridge Health Alliance will expand its use of the company’s revenue cycle management solutions to include reimbursement and revenue integrity solutions.

On Assignment, Inc., a Calabasas, Calif.-based provider of professional staffing solutions, has been awarded a five-year General Services Administration Schedule 621 contract to provide federal agencies with nurses and nurse practitioners.

MedeAnalytics, an Emeryville, Calif.-based developer of healthcare performance management solutions, has released an enhanced version of its Patient Access Intelligence Solution, designed to streamline front-end registration and financial clearance processes for healthcare providers.

The Smith & Adams law firm of Houston, Texas, has launched a new healthcare practice, with four attorneys specializing in healthcare issues, and changed its name to Smith Adams Law LLP.

GreatCall, Inc., a San Diego-based developer of mobile services, has launched the GreatCall Medication Reminder service, designed to help customers manage their medications through their Jitterbug cell phone.

Lawson Software, based in St. Paul, Minn., has introduced Lawson Disaster Recovery, a cloud-based disaster recovery services designed to help Lawson customers achieve business continuity within hours of a technology-related disaster.

ADP, a Roseland, N.J.-based provider of human resources, payroll and benefits administration services, has completed its acquisition of privately held Workscape, Inc., a provider of integrated benefits and talent management solutions and services.

REACH3, a Verona, Wis.-based developer of healthcare customer relationship management and strategic marketing solutions, has been added to the Medical Group Management Association’s AdminiServe program. REACH3 has developed MyPracticeBuilder exclusively for MGMA members, allowing them access to predictive consumer scoring and marketing applications.

MedQuist, Inc., a Mount Laurel, N.J.-based provider of medical transcription services and clinical documentation workflow, has been retained by the Child Health Corporation of America to provide clinical documentation and computer-assisted coding technology and outsourced medical transcription and coding services.

Prodigo Solutions, LLC, based in Pittsburgh, has announced an agreement with Atlanta-based MedAssets to offer its electronic procurement marketplace solutions to MedAssets customers. Prodigo is a subsidiary of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

FairWarning, Inc., a St. Petersburg, Fla.-based supplier of solutions designed to monitor and protect patient privacy in electronic health records, has released the FairWarning Small and Medium Care Providers package for privacy breach detection.

Medical Connections Holdings, Inc., a Boca Raton, Fla.-based provider of medical recruitment and staffing services, has announced plans to acquire a Florida-based healthcare staffing company whose 2009 revenue was approximately $7 million.

The Premier healthcare alliance, based in Raleigh, N.C., has announced that 150 healthcare providers saved more than $120 million in labor and supply costs over the past year by participating in Premier’s LaborConnect labor management program. Premier officials said participants saw a 14:1 return on investment in the program, which attracted 95 new participants during the past year.

VeriFone Systems, Inc., a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of secure electronic payment solutions for healthcare and other industries, has announced that a U.S. District Court in California has dismissed, with prejudice, a shareholder derivative lawsuit filed in December 2007 against the company over a restatement of quarterly financial results. According to the court, the plaintiff failed to make proper demand and provided no substantial reason for the filing of the lawsuit.

Upp Technology, a Downers Grove, Ill.-based developer of emergency preparedness and response technology solutions, has announced that the San Luis Obispo County (Calif.) Public Health Department’s Emergency Preparedness Program will implement the IRMS GO-KIT Mobile Logistics Platform for inventory and emergency response management.

IDBS, a UK- and Burlington, Mass.-based provider of data management and analytics solutions to R&D and healthcare organizations, has acquired Quantrix, a Portland, Me.-based provider of business modeling and analytics software and services.

Chamberlin Edmonds and Associates, Inc., an Atlanta-based provider of patient eligibility and enrollment services for hospitals, has announced that Georgia-based Emory Healthcare will extend its contract with the company for eligibility management services to eight other healthcare providers in the network.

Novation, an Irving, Texas-based supply contracting company for members of VHA, the University HealthSystem Consortium and Provista, has awarded an agreement to Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis for blood glucose testing products. The company has also awarded an agreement to GE Healthcare of Milwaukee for cardiac catheterization monitoring and electrophysiology monitoring.

Wolters Kluwer Health, based in Philadelphia, has announced that Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo., has selected the company’s ProVation MD software for gastroenterology procedure documentation and coding.

Healthways, Inc., a Franklin, Tenn.-based provider of well-being services, has announced a partnership with MedNetworks, Inc., a Newton, Mass.-based provider of social network mapping analytics and technology. The two companies will work together to apply social network mapping to population health management.

The Carefx Corporation, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based provider of interoperable workflow solutions, has announced a collaboration with the University HealthSystem Consortium to provide advanced business intelligence dashboard and analytical tools to non-profit academic medical centers.

Passport Health Communications, Inc., a Franklin, Tenn.-based developer of business operations and payment software for healthcare providers, has launched Payment Navigator, a new software platform designed to help hospitals analyze and guide uninsured patients to proper payment plans prior to receiving medical care.

HP, based in Palo Alto, Calif., has announced a $135 million, eight-year technology services contract with the Alabama Medicaid Agency.

SearchAmerica, a Minneapolis-based developer of financial clearing services for healthcare providers and a subsidiary of Experian, has launched Data Breach Advance Response, a new service designed to provide hospitals with a data breach preparedness plan.

Health Care Compliance Strategies (HCCS), a Jericho, N.Y.-based provider of online healthcare compliance and competency training services, has released a new course designed specifically for nursing facilities including nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities and other long-term care providers.

The Oxford Finance Corporation of Alexandria, Va., a subsidiary of the Sumitomo Corporation, has closed a $5 million revolving line of credit agreement with the Avanti Health System and its affiliate, CHHP Holdings II, which owns and operates acute care hospitals in California. The group will be using the funds to acquire and operate Community Hospital of Huntington Park.

RelayHealth, an Atlanta-based provider of healthcare connectivity services, has announced that Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in California will deploy the company’s health information exchange connectivity solution. The company has also announced the achievement of full accreditation for its e-Prescribing Accreditation Program (ePAP) from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC)

The Intellisoft Group, based in Nashua, N.H., has announced an agreement with Argus Medical Management, a Long Beach, Calif.-based physician management services organization, to resell the company’s IntelliCred, IntelliApp and IntelliContract software.

Gold Standard/Elsevier, a Tampa, Fla.-based developer of drug information and medication management solutions, has launched MEDcounselor Languages, a module designed to provide MEDcounselor consumer medication information in 12 languages.
