Vendor Notebook: The Cardinal Health Foundation calls for grant entries

The Cardinal Health Foundation of Dublin, Ohio, has announced a call for entries for its E3 Grant Program, offering more than $1 million in grant funding to help U.S. hospitals, health systems and community Health clinics improve the efficiency and quality of care. Since its founding in 2008, the program has awarded 108 grants totaling more than $3 million.
Sage Payment Solutions, based in McLean, Va., has launched Sage Patient Payments, a secure payment solution designed to enable collections from patients at the point of care, regardless of the patient’s third-party payer. The solution is powered by mPay Gateway, a developer of payment card industry-certified financial technology products and services.
Entrust Healthcare, a Columbus, Ohio-based consulting and services firm focused on physician practices, ambulatory care, diagnostic and surgery centers, urgent care providers and community medical centers, has expanded its physician billing and revenue cycle consulting services with the acquisition of Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based PRISMA Systems Medical Billing.
Navinet, a Cambridge, Mass.-based health communications network, has announced the launch of the NaviNet EMR electronic medical record and NaviNet PM practice management solutions, designed to integrate with the company’s NaviNet Insurer Connect portal.
Shareable Ink, a Boston-based developer of digital pen and paper applications for healthcare, has launched Shareable Ink Analytics for Anesthesia, a business intelligence extension of the company’s anesthesia module that extracts clinical, quality and efficiency-related data from paper anesthesia records.
BancTec, Inc., an Irving, Texas-based developer of business management solutions, has announced that its board of directors has adopted a stockholder rights plan designed to protect company stockholders in the event of takeover activity that would deny them the full value of their investment. The board declared a dividend distribution of one preferred stock purchase right for each outstanding share of common stock of the company, payable to stockholders of record as of Oct. 1, 2010, an exercisable only if, under certain conditions, a person or group acquires 15 percent or more of the company’s voting stock.
SunRx, based in Bensalem, Pa., has announced a partnership with Bakersfield, Calif.-based National Health Services to provide discounted prescription drugs through the federal 340B program to families in Kern County, Calif.

Wolters Kluwer Health, based in Philadelphia, has announced that Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton, Colo., has selected ProVation MD software for gastroenterological procedure documentation and coding. The company ha also announced that the Centegra Health System of McHentry, Ill., has selected ProVation Order Sets, powered by UpToDate Decision Support, as the electronic order set solution for the system’s three hospitals.
McKesson, headquartered in Atlanta, has announced an exclusive agreement with MedVentive to offer the Analytics Advisor provider performance management solution to the payer market. In other news, McKesson Health Solutions has received full-core re-accreditation and vendor recertification for its care management worflow solutions from Washington, D.C.-based URAC.
Premier Anesthesia, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based provider of anesthesia management services and solutions, has established a new partnership to manage anesthesia services at Women’s Christian Association Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y.
Xanitos, Inc., based in Radnor, Pa., has announced an agreement with Kaiser Permanente of Southern California for a pilot program to manage environmental services departments in several hospitals using the company’s XRO system.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont has launched a new Medigap Blue plan, offered through The Vermont Health Plan, that is designed to provide coverage for Medicare deductibles, co-insurance and other out-of-pocket costs to newly retired Medicare recipients.

Touchstone Health, a New York-based Medicare Advantage insurer, has closed on $27.5 million in equity financing, which will be used to increase membership and territorial expansion in New York as well as branching out into other related businesses.

Epocrates, a San Mateo, Calif.-based provider of mobile drug reference tools and interactive services, has announced a collaboration with Walgreens to make the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club formulary list of more than 8,000 brand and generic medications accessible through Epocrates’ mobile and online drug reference products.
