Vendor Notebook: The Cerner Corporation announces reseller deal

The Cerner Corporation of Kansas City, Mo., has announced a reseller deal with Atlanta-based MedAssets whereby it will market MedAssets’ revenue cycle management applications to its healthcare clients. The company will also resell financial services from Minneapolis-based SearchAmerica and medical coding and prospective payment system applications from Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Ingenix. These applications will be integrated into the company’s Millennium platform.
CIT Group, Inc., a New York-based provider of financing to small businesses and middle market companies, has announced that CIT Healthcare and CIT Capital Markets served as administrative agent, sole bookrunner and joint lead arranger in a $68.5 million senior secured credit facility for Great Lakes Home Health and Hospice to complete its acquisition of In-House Hospice, which provides palliative and hospice care in Michigan and Ohio. Utah-based CIT Bank, a subsidiary of CIT Group, provided $15 million in total financing.
MicroStrategy, a Vienna, Va.-based developer of business intelligence software, has announced that Visiting Nurse Service of New York will use the company’s Pathways Initiative BI solution to manage claims, develop targeted actions and track and measure the impact of its programs.
PREDICTif, a Houston-based developer of business analytics solutions for healthcare and other industries, has changed its name to Smith Information Systems (SIS). The company, which specializes in predictive analytics, will maintain its headquarters in Houston and offices throughout the United States and China.
3M Health Information Systems of Minneapolis has announced that the Healthcare Financial Management Association has reviewed the company’s DRG Assurance Program and granted it a “Peer Reviewed by HFMA” designation. The program is a consulting service designed to improve inpatient clinical documentation.
The Panasonic Corporation of Secaucus, N.J., has made an investment in CardioNexus, a portfolio company of Houston-based Fairway Medical Technologies. The investment is part of Panasonic’s efforts to establish a dominance in the field of personalized preventive medicine and will ally the company with The Texas Medical Center, based in Houston.
MedAssets, an Atlanta-based provider of spend management and revenue cycle management solutions for healthcare providers, has been selected by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) as an AdminiServe Partner. Through the deal, MedAssets will provide MGMA members with access to the group’s group purchasing organization services and technology.
Management Health Solutions, a Fairfield, Conn.-based provider of supply chain management software and business solutions for healthcare providers, has acquired Hospital Inventories Specialists, a Tampa, Fla.-based provider of inventory management solutions and analytical services.
Wolters Kluwer Health, based in Philadelphia, has announced that Union Hospital of Cecil County, located in Elkton, Md., has selected ProVation Order Sets, powered by UpToDate Decision Support, as the organization’s electronic order set solution.
SyMed, a Brentwood, Tenn.-based provider of healthcare credentialing software, has added Alliance HealthCare Services of Newport Beach, Calif., and Texas Health Resources of Arlington, Texas, to its client list.
Ancillary Care Solutions, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based provider of management services for outpatient physical and occupational therapy programs, has announced contracts with Rebound Orthopedics of Vancouver, Wash., and the Kansas Joint and Spine Institute of Wichita, Kan.
