Vendor Notebook - Fifth Third Securities provides advising on VA medical center bond deal

Fifth Third Securities, Inc., recently served as financial advisor and structuring agent for the $115 million bond deal to renovate and expand the Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio’s largest VA hospital and the fifth largest in the country.

MedeAnalytics, an Emeryville, Calif.-based developer of healthcare performance management solutions, has announced that St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Md., has added the company’s Payer Performance Analytics solution to its suite of MedeAnalytics solutions. PPA is designed to provide daily insight into payer reimbursement trends, adjudication bottlenecks and the disputed claims appeal process.

McKesson, based in Atlanta, has launched Horizon Practice Plus 12.0, the latest release of its practice management system for hospital-employed and mid- to large-sized physician practices, which includes advanced scheduling and billing capabilities.

Take Care Health Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Walgreen Company, has contracted with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc., to cover services for members at all Take Care clinics in Florida. Take Care operates nearly 50 walk-in clinics in select Walgreens in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

RevenueXL, Inc., a Cupertino, Calif.-based provider of electronic medical records and revenue cycle management solutions and services, has announced a partnership with San Jose, Calif.-based Bizmatics to market PrognoCIS, an integrated application suite of clinical and non-clinical medical software solutions that includes PrognoCIS EMR, Billing, patient portal and eTools.

EmCare, Inc., a Dallas-based provider of outsourced hospital-based emergency physician services, has announced a partnership with The Studer Group, an international outcomes-based healthcare organization which assists hospitals in improving clinical and operational results.

Quantros, a San Francisco-based provider of safety and quality software and professional services solutions to the healthcare industry, has announced that Banner Health will implement the company’s RRM solution to manage clinical improvement and regulatory reporting efforts. RRM is an electronic self-reporting system designed to streamline and simplify reporting to a number of state and national quality organizations.

Medifis, Inc., a Kennett Square, Pa.-based provider of end-to-end workforce solutions, has signed an exclusive vendor management services agreement with Genesis Rehab Services, a rehabilitation services organization serving more than 800 skilled nursing centers, assisted living facilities, hospitals, home health companies, adult day care programs and outpatient clinics in the United States.

PeriGen, Inc., a Princeton, N.J.-based provider of OB-specific risk-reduction solutions, has entered into an agreement with the Beazley Group, a Lloyd’s of London-based insurer of medical malpractice for U.S. hospitals, to have Beazley provide insurance coverage at a reduced cost to hospitals that implement PeriGen’s solution suite.

, has announced that HMS, a provider of benefits and program integrity services for healthcare payers, will use the company’s DataMatcher product to help the state of New Jersey expedite analysis of its Medicaid membership files against private insurer records, improving processing accuracy and speeding membership analyses.

Healthcare Management Systems, Inc., of Nashville has announced that the Hamilton Healthcare System will use HMS’ financial and clinical software solutions in its facilities, including Hamilton General Hospital in Hamilton, Texas, The Family Practice Rural Health Clinic in Hamilton, Texas, Hico Clinic in Hico, Texas, and the Family Practice Clinic of Mills County in Goldthwaite, Texas.

GE Global Research of Niskayuna, N.Y., the technology development arm of GE, has been awarded a four-year, $3.27 million award from the National Institutes of Health to develop new magnet technology that will make MRI systems less costly and easier to site.
