Vendor Notebook: GE releases meaningful use-ready Centricity Enterprise

GE Healthcare IT, based in Barrington, Ill., has announced the availability of its Meaningful Use-ready software release for Centricity Enterprise, the company’s integrated clinical, financial and administrative software solution for hospitals. The new release is version 6.9. In addition, GE Healthcare has announced that its ePrescribing solution has been approved by the Ohio Pharmacy Board for use by the state’s physicians.

of Berkeley Heights, N.J., a provider of telehealth products and services, has completed the sale of certain non-core assets, including land and buildings in Schenectady, N.Y., to Star Advisors, LLC, acting on behalf of the principals of the Astria Solutions Group, LLC, for $2.4 million. The money will be used for working capital and general corporate purposes.

MedeAnalytics, an Emeryville, Calif.-based provider of healthcare performance management solutions, has released version 10 of its namesake solution. The summer 2010 software platform includes new features such as Alerts Plus, which is designed to allow clients to be notified of key issues or accomplishments. The company has also entered into a multi-year agreement with Health Net, Inc., to provide performance management solutions for Health Net’s health plan operations and Medicare products, including Medical Management Analytics, Provider Network Management Analytics and Operations Performance Management.

Cymetrix, an Irvine, Calif.-based provider of revenue cycle management solutions, has announced an expanded partnership with Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, Calif., to provide self-pay accounts receivable management services. The company has also announced a partnership with the Hartford Healthcare Foundation of Hartford, Conn., for third-party accounts receivable management services.

NetSol Technologies, Inc., a Calabasas, Calif.-based provider of global business services and enterprise application solutions to private and public sector organizations, has signed a license upgrade agreement with Singers Healthcare Finance Limited, one of the UK’s leading providers of leasing solutions to the healthcare industry. Under the agreement, SHFL will upgrade to the latest version of NetSol’s LeaseSoft asset management solution.

Press Gainey Associates, based in South Bend, Ind., has been awarded contracts from Charlotte, N.C.-based Premier Purchasing Partners, LP, Inc., the group purchasing unit of Premier, Inc., to help measure and improve satisfaction and engagement among patients, employees and physicians at its member organizations.

Mariner, a Charlotte, N.C.-based provider of data analytics, has been selected by the Medical Advantage Group, a Michigan-based provider of consulting and management services that drive improvements in healthcare efficiency and quality of care, to develop and implement data analytics that will enhance MAG’s current system.
Surgical Information Systems of Atlanta has announced that Kingman Regional Medical Center in Arizona will implement the company’s integrated perioperative information management system, including SIS Com, SIS Analytics, SIS Anesthesia and SIS Rules-Based Charging.

iTelagen, a Jersey City, N.J.-based provider of healthcare information technology, medical billing and electronic health records, is teaming up with the Newark, Del.-based Medficiency healthcare consulting group to help physician practices adopt EHRs.

Rockport Healthcare Group, a Houston-based national preferred provider network focused exclusively on workers’ compensation, has announced a network partner alliance agreement with Florida-based Evolutions Healthcare Systems, one of the largest independently owned PPO networks serving employers, carriers and third-party administrators.

On Assignment, Inc., a Calabasas, Calif.-based provider of staffing solutions for healthcare providers and other industries, has acquired Sharpstream, a London-based provider of search services for the life sciences sector, for roughly $5 million.

Midcap Financial, LLC, a Bethesda, Md.-based commercial finance company focused exclusively on middle market healthcare, has closed a corporate credit facility with Solar Capital Ltd. The Facility will be used for MidCap’s general corporate purposes and is designed to increase in size to meet future capital needs.

Hyland Software, based in Cleveland, is joining forces with Indianapolis-based Van Ausdall & Farrar to address  invoice processing challenges for organizations. Hyland’s OnBase Automated Accounts Payable solution will be integrated with Ausdall & Farrar solutions to address receipt to pay issues.

Health Dialog, based in Boston, has launched its Medicare Star Support Program, designed to help Medicare Advantage plans boost their Health Plan Quality and Performance (“Star”) ratings and ensure that seniors are getting the care they need. The company’s program will directly address the 33 different metrics used by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to determine star ratings for MA plans.

Medline Industries, Inc., a Mundelein, Ill.-based manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies, has signed a five-year prime vendor agreement with the AROK Purchasing Coalition, a VHA supply network comprised of almost 50 acute care facilities in Arkansas and Oklahoma.

HASCO Medical, Inc., a Mobile, Ala.-based managed healthcare provider that serves Alabama, Florida and Mississippi, has announced plans to expand throughout the United States and has targeted several small “mom and pop” healthcare facilities for acquisition. The company’s two major service lines are home respiratory equipment and durable/home medical equipment.

Skire, Inc., a Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider of capital program, facilities, real estate and project portfolio management software, has been hired by the North Shore-LIJ Health System to manage its five-year, $2 billion capital improvement program.

Health Access Solutions, based in Foster City, Calif., has announced that the Individual Practice Association Medical Group of Santa Clara County, Calif., will expand its use of the company’s applications to enable emerging patient-centric models such as medical homes and accountable care initiatives. SCCIPA, representing a network of more than 800 physicians and eight community hospitals, will upgrade to version 5.0 of the company’s Access Express use and care management product.

US-Rx Care, a Miami-based provider of pharmacy benefits risk management services, has announced that it will soon unveil version 2 of the Therapeutic Alternative Prescription System (TAPS), the company’s fixed-cost pricing model.

MedAssets, Inc., based in Atlanta, has launched a bundled reimbursement solution, including a payment calculation platform to support bundled reimbursement methodologies such as the PROMETHEUS Payment model’s Evidence-informed Case Rates (ECR). The platform combines a claims tracking and financial accounting system, along with a scorecard that uses claims and other data to measure the quality of care delivery.

Broadlane, a Dallas-based provider of cost management services, has expanded its products to 34 offerings grouped into six service lines and renamed the company The Broadlane Group. The new service lines are The Preference Group, Healthcare Performance Partners, Supply Chain Solutions, Strategic Sourcing Solutions,
Capital Equipment Solutions and Prolucent Workforce Management.

HealthPlan Holdings, Inc., a Tampa, Fla.-based provider of outsourcing solutions for insurers in the individual, small business and union trust markets, has acquired GEMGroup, a Pittsburgh-based developer of accounting, pension and 401(k) administration software and services to self-funded and Taft-Hartley employee benefit plans for unionized workers.

The Wellsoft Corporation of Somerset, N.J., has announced that Clarkson West Medical Center has selected the company’s EDIS technology as it transfers management of the Emergency Department at The Nebraska Medical Center to the Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital in Omaha, Neb. The technology platform includes Patient Tracking, Registration Tracking, Triage Documentation, Nursing Documentation, Order Tracking and Results Reporting, among other tools. In addition, the company has announced that Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, has selected the company’s EDIS.

Medrium, Inc., based in Morristown, N.J., has signed a partnership with Thomson Reuters’ Micromedex solutions group to provide referential content, including RED BOOK and Ultimedex, to its newly released electronic medical record.

The RemoteScan Corporation, a Missoula, Mont.-based developer of software solutions for converting document scanners and digital cameras into network devices that can be used with electronic medical record and financial management systems, has released iRemoteScan for the iPad and iPhone.

Picis, Inc., based in Wakefield, Mass., has announced that the St. Joseph Health System in Orange, Calif., has selected the company’s perioperative and anesthesia information management systems for 13 facilities and an estimated 81 operating rooms.

R.E. Moulton, Inc., based in Indianapolis, has released a unlimited specific coverage reimbursement option for American Life Insurance Company stop loss insurance policyholders. In addition, for AUL policyholders requiring a maximum specific benefit, R.E. Moulton will continue providing annual maximums with options of up to $10 million in coverage.

, based in Cambridge, Mass., has introduced enhanced versions of its HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10 assessment and migration service offerings.

Iron Mountain, Inc., based in Boston, has announced that it is combining its services for document scanning, file archiving and data backup into one solution for hospitals and healthcare organizations converting hard-copy patient files into an electronic medical record system. The new system is called the Iron Mountain EMR Enablement Solution.

MEDHOST, an Addison, Texas-based provider of healthcare throughput and emergency department software, has launched Care Clock, designed to enable hospitals to post current ED wait times on their Web sites so that patients can make decisions on non-urgent care solutions.

Ascent, a Phoenix, Ariz.-based developer of healthcare resource sustainability solutions, has been awarded a three-year, single-source agreement with the Upper Midwest Consolidated Service Center, a supply network of VHA hospitals in the Midwest, to become the sole provider of single-use device reprocessing programs to 120 hospitals in seven states.

, an Atlanta-based national firm providing billing and practice management services to radiologists and imaging centers, has been awarded an exclusive billing contract with Premier Radiology in Kalamazoo, Mich.

MediCycle, a Phoenix-based provider of medical device recycling solutions for hospitals, has joined Practice Greenhealth, a membership organization for institutions and businesses in the healthcare sector that are engaged in helping lower the industry’s environmental footprint.

Covisint, a Detroit-based provider of healthcare exchange integration services, has announced that several Michigan health plans have created one entity – the Michigan Association of Health Plans – to better communicate and share data on the Covisint ExchangeLink platform.

Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions of Chicago has announced that the MedWest Health System, a three-hospital system in western North Carolina, has selected the Allscripts Electronic Health Record and Practice Management solution for its 60 employed physicians. In addition, the company has announced that Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y., has chosen the Allscripts EHR for 100 of its physicians in 24 outpatient clinics. Also, Centra, a Lynchburg, Va.-based three-hospital system, has selected the Allscripts EHR solution for its staff physicians and Allscripts Community Exchange as the platform for connecting the medical community in its region; and Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Calif., has chosen the Allscripts Community Solution to power the Huntington Health eConnect health information exchange.

Acusis, a Pittsburgh-based provider of outsourced medical transcription services for hospitals, has announced a strategic partnership with the Pittsburgh-based Foundation Radiology Group.

Avisena, a Miami-based provider of revenue cycle management software and services for physician practices, has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved a patent for the company’s “system for managing accounts receivables.”

My LifePlan, a Ravenna, Ohio-based health information technology company, has announced that the Akron General Health System in Akron, Ohio, will deploy the company’s MyChoice Service Web-based subscription medical information service at its emergency departments throughout Northeast Ohio.

Thomson Reuters has been awarded a five-year contract from the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services to provide a healthcare reporting and analytics system for the management of programs such as Medicaid, North Carolina Health Choice, Community Care of North Carolina, Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse and Public Health.

Physicians Practice, a Baltimore-based developer of practice management services, has announced a partnership with Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
