Chicago-based Allscripts has announced the purchase of the Extended Care Information Network, also of Chicago, for approximately $90 million. ECIN provides hospital care management and discharge planning software. In addition, Allscripts announced the formation of a new Hospital Solutions Group to combine ECIN's offerings with its emergency department information systems (EDIS) and Canopy care management solutions.

Technest Holdings, Inc., a Bethesda, Md.-based provider of advanced sensor, surveillance and 3D imaging systems, has completed the sale of its subsidiary, EOIR Technologies, Inc., to EOIR Holdings LLC, a Delaware limited liability company and affiliate of the Atlanta-based White Oak Group, Inc. Technest will use the estimated $23 million made in the sale to reward shareholders and boost technological investments in the field of 3D and advanced imaging, including in the healthcare market.

IVANS, Inc. of Stamford, Conn. has unveiled LIME, a new high-speed, multi-user Internet solution designed to help healthcare providers process Medicare transactions by eliminating manual searches and streamlining the claims workflow process.

P2P Link, a Brookfield, Wis.-based business unit of Fiserv, Inc. has announced an alliance with Payerpath, Inc., part of Misys Healthcare, to streamline the medical bill and reimbursement process between medical providers and workers compensation payers.

Watertown, Mass.-based athenahealth, Inc. has announced a collaboration with UnitedHealthcare, of Minneapolis, to further expand the two companies' national real-time claims adjudication capabilities.

Ingenix, of Eden Prairie, Minn., has announced a strategic alliance with Dallas-based Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. to provide Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) support solutions to ACS' state government clients.
