Vendor Notebook: Nebraska Medical Center to deploy MedAssets services

MedAssets, based in Atlanta, has announced that The Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha will deploy the company’s strategic sourcing and group purchasing, medical device and clinical consulting services for physician preference items, as well as the company’s pharmacy consulting services.

Alpha II, a Montgomery, Ala.-based provider of healthcare coding, compliance and reimbursement services, has announced a new integration contract with PCIS Gold, a provider of single-source medical group practice software. The integration will allow Alpha II to offer its ClaimStaker software to PCIS Gold customers.

Stat Health Services, Inc., based in Scottsdale, Ariz., has announced a partnership with Emergency Medicine Physicians, a Canton, Ohio-based emergency department physician management company, to extend access to the company’s STAT DOCTORS eHealth service across the country.

Cymetrix, an Irvine, Calif.-based provider of revenue cycle management solutions, has announced a new partnership with the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., to offer extended business office assistance during Moffitt’s upcoming system conversion.

Benefitfocus, based in Charleston, S.C., has extended its agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida for online enrollment and billing technology through the Benefitfocus Platform.

Apollo Medical Holdings, a Los Angeles-based provider of hospitalist and care management services, has signed an agreement to provide inpatient care services at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, Calif.

Geonetric, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based developer of online services for healthcare providers, has announced a partnership with the CPM Marketing Group of Madison, Wis., that will allow Geonetric to incorporate CPM’s business analytics solution into its VitalSite software product. The company has also announced the launch of a new Web presence for the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, Iowa, and a new Web presence for Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

CIGNA, a Philadelphia-based global health service and financial company, has joined the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) as a member company and will also participate on the CAQH board of directors.

VHA, an Irving, Texas-based national network of not-for-profit healthcare organizations, has announced that 17 member organizations in Louisiana and Mississippi have formed the Gulf States Purchasing Coalition to reduce supply expenses and improve operational performance. The company has also announced that five member healthcare systems in Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee have formed the Central Atlantic Health Network.

Novation, an Irving, Texas-based supply contracting company serving members of VHA, the University HealthSystem Consortium and Provista, has awarded and agreement to Welch Allyn of Skaneateles Falls, N.Y., for hand-held diagnostic tools, specifically otoscopes and ophthalmoscopes. The company has also announced an extended and enhanced contract with Covidien for wound care products and an agreement with Integra LifeSciences of Plainsboro, N.J., for surgical headlights.

The Market Center Management Company has announced a partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., that will allow the new Nashville Medical Trade Center to be the preferred service partner for off-campus Continuing Education events, beginning in 2013.
