3M’s healthcare IT division will purchase SoftMed Systems Inc., a healthcare software and services provider, in a deal that will close in the fourth quarter. St. Paul, MN-based 3M said the acquisition of SoftMed, the details of which were undisclosed, will help the manufacturing company create electronic medical records systems for hospitals.
