Vendor Notebook - Perot Systems expands billing services with Mass. state health insurance program

The Perot Systems Corp. of Plano, Texas, has expanded its relationship with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Health Insurance Connector Authority in which Perot will use its Xcelys health plan administration software solutions to provide additional premium billing and enrollment services to the state health insurance program.

HealthEdge, a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of software platforms for healthcare payers, has launched Benefit Predictor, a new capability of the HealthRules Payor application that provides clients with the tools to answer complex benefit questions from members and providers.

Lawson Software of St. Paul, Minn., has announced that Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Md., has completed and organization-wide deployment of multiple enterprise software applications, including Lawson Enterprise Financial Management and Asset Management suites, as well as Lawson Business Intelligence. The hospital is also fully operational with the Lawson Human Resource Management suite.

The Informatica Corporation of Redwood, Calif., has announced the availability of the B2B Data Exchange solution for healthcare payers.

The Cardinal Health Foundation of Dublin, Ohio, has awarded the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy a $100,000 grant to create education and outreach programs designed to empower pharmacists, colleges and universities to fight prescription medication abuse and misuse.

The PSC Info Group, a Valley Forge, Pa.-based developer of data management, document and transaction processing solutions, has acquired the data processing, printing and mailing unit of North Shore Agency, Inc., of Long Island, N.Y., from NSA’s parent company NCO Group, Inc.

Capio Partners, LLC, of Duluth, Ga., has announced a partnership with Aequitas Capital Management, Inc., an alternative investment firm providing a $20 million revolving facility to purchase late-stage, patient self-pay healthcare receivables. The agreement represents a commitment to provide alternative revenue cycle options to healthcare entities.

Esker, a Madison, Wis.-based developer of document process automation solutions, has released Accounts Receivable on Demand, a software-as-a-service offering designed to simplify conversion from manual to automated invoicing.

Swearingen Software, a Houston-based provider of radiology information systems, is holding a contest to give away one free RIS to a “hardship” radiology department, such as one at a hospital or clinic that has fallen on difficult economic times. The contest, which begins Nov. 2 and will conclude on Dec. 31 (with the winner announced on Feb. 1, 2010), includes RISynergy software, installation and training and one year of free customer support.

Wolters Kluwer Health, the Philadelphia-based healthcare arm of Wolters Kluwer, has announced that Regional Medical Center Anniston in Anniston, Ala., will deploy the company’s ProVation MD software for Cardiology procedure documentation and coding.

RelayHealth, the connectivity subsidiary of Atlanta-based McKesson, has made its new TestTrack5010 for Payors tool available to health insurers. The Web-based solution enables health plans to test processing of HIPAA 5010 medical claims, eligibility and other 5010 transactions using their own production data in advance of the Jan. 1, 2012 deadline to switch to the ANSI X12 version 5010 transaction set.

D2 Sales, LLC of Mequon, Wis., has announced that Beaumont Hospitals of Troy, Mich., has chosen the My Patient Passport Express kiosk for its patient check-in program.
