Vendor Notebook - Perot Systems extends contract with athenahealth

Perot Systems of Plano, Texas has been awarded a five-year contract extension with athenahealth, Inc., a Watertown, Mass.-based provider of Web-based business services for physician practices. The agreement calls for Perot to provide business process services relating to revenue cycle and clinical data capture.

The iMedica Corp. of Dallas has reached agreement in its dispute with Misys Healthcare Systems of Raleigh, N.C. Under the agreement, iMedica will grant Misys a license for the iMedica PRM 2008 practice management and electronic health record application and will provide a license for the new version of the iMedica software source code, PRM 2008 SP1, in exchange for up to $12 million in cash and all equity in iMedica that is help by Misys and the remaining balance for outstanding prepaid royalties related to the previous OEM agreement.

Medversant LLC of Los Angeles has announced that the New Jersey Council of Teaching Hospitals will use the company’s MedMonitored Badge and related software services to institute continuous monitoring of physician and staff credentials.

InfoLogix, Inc. of Hatboro, Pa. has launched HealthTrax 2.0, the latest version of its wireless asset tracking solution, which includes enhanced mobile functionality designed to allow real-time data collection and analysis.

DST Health Solutions’ Medical Services Department, a Birmingham, Ala.-based provider of medical management services for health plans, has been awarded Health Utilization Management Accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based healthcare accrediting organization.

HR XCEL of Charlotte, N.C. has unveiled HR XCEL InfoSource, a workforce communications tool designed to help mid-market companies deploy human resources and benefit solutions more effectively and efficiently.

MedAssurant, a Bowie, Md.-based provider of medical clinical quality, care management and financial efficiency improvement products, has announced that Andre Hoffman, a private investor and vice chairman of Roche Holdings, Ltd., has directed the purchase of an additional block of the company’s common stock for $175 million, increasing his position in the company to just over 15 percent and making him the largest outside shareholder in the company.

IVANS, Inc., a Stamford, Conn.-based provider of corporate connectivity solutions and services, has announced that Beacon Management of Baton Rouge, La., which provides outpatient mental health services to Louisiana and Mississippi residents, has recently implemented IVANS LIME, a high-speed Medicare access solutions that’s designed to enable healthcare providers to accelerate cash flow and minimize the risk of uncompensated care.

ZirMed, of Louisville, Ky., and Workflow.com of Cleveland have announced a partnership that integrates Workflow.com’s clinical software, connectivity and information systems with ZirMed’s revenue cycle management solutions.
